Derrick Breska

Derrick joined Zilka-Kotab in 2009 while attending Santa Clara University School of Engineering. During his time at Santa Clara University, Derrick earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in addition to performing research for the school’s engineering department on optical wireless communication systems. His work was featured in the School of Engineering’s centennial report. Derrick also served as an elected school representative for Santa Clara University in the Silicon Valley IEEE council.

Derrick also attended and received his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law. A considerable part of Derrick’s studies focused on the school’s top-ten ranked intellectual property curriculum, for which he was awarded a High Tech Law Certificate, accompanied by an Intellectual Property Specialization, with honors.

As a patent attorney at Zilka-Kotab, Derrick primarily focuses on patent application drafting and prosecution, and also manages a number of small size client patent portfolios. He has experience in a broad range of technical areas including, but not limited to, communication systems, data storage systems, integrated circuit designs, RFID systems, advanced circuit logic/designs, electromagnetics, and quantum physics/mechanics.
