Mr. Kotab co-founded Zilka-Kotab, PC in 2000. Since that time, Mr. Kotab has specialized in preparation and prosecution of patent applications in a broad spectrum of technological areas, including: semiconductor fabrication and processing, data storage technologies (systems, software, architectures), chemical compounds, chemical processing, networks, software, integrated circuits, computer hardware, wireless applications including RFID, image processing, and mechanical devices. Mr. Kotab is also well versed in many other technological areas, including: pharmaceuticals, alternative energy (devices and fuels), nanotechnology, reconfigurable logic devices and applications, electro-mechanical technology, biotechnology and biomedical sciences.
Besides preparing and prosecuting patent applications, Mr. Kotab has written dozens of validity opinions and freedom to operate opinions, has been instrumental in numerous infringement studies and licensing initiatives, and has found success in a pre-litigation diligence and litigation support capacity.
Servicing mainly mid-size and large entity corporations, Mr. Kotab understands the importance of providing very high quality work product while remaining within corporate budgetary constraints. Mr. Kotab’s success in this regard is evidenced by the many portfolios that have been transferred in from other firms to the care of Mr. Kotab.
Mr. Kotab also devotes much of his time to development of comprehensive, aggressive intellectual property portfolios for high technology companies of all sizes, with an eye on future value and potential licensing opportunities. In particular, he specializes in strategically positioning intellectual property assets to maximize value and place the company in a position for market leadership.
